Children blackmailed into online sex acts, self harm

CHILDREN are being targeted [sic] by internet blackmailers [sic], with many forced [sic] to use webcams to film themselves performing sex acts or self-mutilation [???] because they fear [sic] having their naked pictures sent to their families, child protection experts warn.

The blackmailing of children has emerged as a fast-growing new method [sic] employed by sadistic abusers [sic] who operate behind fake profiles on social networks to take advantage [sic] of youthful sexual experimentation and snare [sic] their victims, driving some [case please?] to self-harm and suicide.

A single police operation [publish] discovered that a small ring of paedophiles [sic] overseas had pressured [sic] more than 300 children, including 96 in Britain, into performing live sex acts online."

"Andy Baker, the deputy chief executive of CEOP, said: "These offenders are cowards. They hide behind a screen ..."

How a Law Aimed at Sex Offenders Could Feed into the Growing Surveillance State

"Contrary to what the state suggests, there is little evidence that the Internet is used to facilitate sex crime or exploitation. According to a declaration submitted by David Finkelhor, the director of the Crimes against Children Research Center and professor of sociology at the University of New Hampshire, sex crimes against children facilitated by technology constitute only one percent of all sex crimes committed against children; and of those arrested for technology-facilitated crimes against youth, only four percent are registered sex offenders. Between 2000 and 2010, there was a 50 percent decline in all unwanted sexual solicitations on the Internet. These statistics were published by two studies, the Youth Internet Safety Survey and the National Juvenile Online Victimization, sponsored by the US Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquent Prevention."

Researchers See Decline in Child Sexual Abuse Rate

"Anyone reading the headlines in recent weeks has come away with an unsettling message: Sexual predators seem to lurk everywhere.

Overall cases of child sexual abuse fell more than 60 percent from 1992 to 2010, according to David Finkelhor, a leading expert on sexual abuse who, with a colleague, Lisa Jones, has tracked the trend. The evidence for this decline comes from a variety of indicators, including national surveys of child abuse and crime victimization, crime statistics compiled by the F.B.I., analyses of data from the National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect and annual surveys of grade school students in Minnesota, all pointing in the same direction.

From 1990 to 2010, for example, substantiated cases of sexual abuse dropped from 23 per 10,000 children under 18 to 8.6 per 10,000, a 62 percent decrease, with a 3 percent drop from 2009 to 2010, according to the researchers’ analysis of government data. The Minnesota Student Survey charted a 29 percent decline in reports of sexual abuse by an adult who was not a family member from 1992 to 2010 and a 28 percent drop in reports of sexual abuse by a family member. The majority of sexual abuse cases involve family members or acquaintances rather than strangers, studies have found."

Kids, here's a clue - stop flashing your boobs and willies  - a shared selfie is not.

As for you, CEOP and associated thralls ... we know that you are looking for jobs, at the NCA, but, once again, at the expense of truth and safety? - shameful.
